K9's flexible approach to vet fee limits and policy excesses allows you to select the cover that's right for you. We have defaulted these limits to £4,000 and £100 respectively and invite you to find the solution which suits your budget and your requirements. If you need to complete our medical screening section you'll be able to adjust these cover levels after.

The way the screening process works is that you declare any condition, injury or operation which has taken place in the last 2 years, or since birth in the case of a fractured bone or life limiting illness or injury.
We then ask you a number of questions to understand the risk. If accepted, you'll be able to choose an additional vet fee limit specifically for that condition. This limit will be reviewed annually but will never reduce without your permission.
What do I need to declare?
When it comes to approving claims our insurer will ask for your dog's veterinary history. If this differs significantly to your declaration they may decline or partially settle a claim so please take care to answer the questions accurately.
It's up to you whether you declare every pre-existing condition but if you don't then any claim which our insurer deems may be related won't be covered, and in any event a cap of £2,000 will be placed on claims of this nature. It is not necessary to declare vaccinations, routine flea or worming treatments, or spaying/castration.

As a specialist dog insurer there are times when requests fall outside of our underwriting limit. Please remember that even without cover for pre-existing conditions our quote is still comparable with most competitor's lifetime policies.
It may be difficult to find another pet insurance company who will insure these conditions. If you already have cover for them with an existing policy we would suggest remaining with that insurer and trying us again next year when hopefully our parameters have changed. If not, you may need to consider the cost of covering these pre-existing conditions directly, possibly alongside our policy.
Remember all policies offered by K9 are lifetime policies, which means that any new illness your dog suffers whilst under a policy with us would continue to be insured going forward.

As owner of this dog, and to the best of my knowledge, I hereby confirm:
You can select a policy start date up to 45 days in advance and cancel any time within 14 days of inception. Cover for illness starts on the first day of your policy, provided you have declared any pre-existing conditions and these have been accepted by us and included by you. You will not be covered for accidents within the first 5 days of your policy.
I confirm that the responses I have provided are accurate and I understand that providing inaccurate responses may affect the premium I pay and any claims settlement. If incorrect responses have been provided the insurer may reduce or not make the claim payment and/or cancel the policy.

Our policies are annual contracts which run for twelve months at a time. Your contract will automatically renew each year unless you choose to cancel it.
We will contact you before the renewal date so that you can make an informed decision about your policy and contact us if you do not wish to renew.
Premiums include Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) at the prevailing rate, which is currently 12%. They also include an administration fee charged by K9 COVER to arrange and maintain your policy.
Our Insurance Product Information Document (IPID) and Policy Wording can be viewed by clicking the relevant link and a copy of these will be attached to your email following purchase.
Premiums are currently payable at 0% APR. We reserve the right to review this on the anniversary of your policy and will inform you in the renewal documentation of any changes, together with any other variations in the level of cover.
If upon reading your policy document you are not satisfied with the cover provided you may cancel this policy within 14 days for a full refund, provided no claim has been made.
Your refund will be paid to the same account unless agreed by us in writing.
You have a duty to notify us of any change of address or contact details in order for us to provide continued service.
